"These songs are atmospheric and strange -- well constructed, well played and completely assured." -- Anthony DeCurtis, Contributing Editor, Rolling Stone (in reference to Matt's album "The Bull And I").
Originally from Carlisle, Pennsylvania, Matt Vucic has spent the last 13 years performing, recording, and producing. He has had the opportunity to work with many talented artists. Liz Berlin, a solo artist who is also a part of the acclaimed National act Rusted Root called on Matt's extraordinary drum talents for her recent release "AudioBioGraphical". Matt continues to tour with Liz to this date. Mr. Small’s Funhouse (Theater and recording studio, Pittsburgh PA) has become Matt's second home where he is consistently called upon for his expertise in recording, production, and live performances. Matt has played drums with Mark Dignam (Folk singer/songwriter) and has recorded with bass player / songwriter / producer Benjy Myaz (Rhythm Kings Band, Jimmy Cliff, Toots and the Maytals, and Solo Artist). He was a cofounder of the Yves Jean Band with which he toured extensively and recorded drums on two of the bands albums - Been Many Days Empty and Rise above Your Surroundings. With these and various other projects, Matt has become a multifaceted talent in music.
"When growing up I was fortunate to be exposed to some of the best musicians and music instructors around. They taught me the importance of the fundamentals of music. I owe so much to them. They've helped shape who I am today", Matt says. His influences as a musician run the gamut from Bob Dylan to Miles Davis, from film score composers to the heart and soul of R&B and Funk's James Brown. As a songwriter, Matt recognizes a different influence as well. “I didn’t realize the impact that my parents had on me as a songwriter until later in life. All the Crosby Stills and Nash, Bob Dylan, Paul Simon, and U2 they had me listening to has surfaced to shape my career, I realize that now. Growing up, the only thing that really mattered were drums."
Although he continues to perform, Matt's most recent venture is music publishing. "I'm excited about Even Tone Music. This business has given me an outlet to write songs and colaborate with other musicicians and songwriters. With a little luck, I hope to successfully carve out a nitch for myself in the music industry."
